A magnetic personality.

How cool are these magnetic curtains by designer Florian Kräutli? There are literally hundreds of magnets inbedded into the material allowing the curtain to cling to itself. Just think of all the different looks you can create. Brilliant!
Update: Just received a nice note from Florian, they are currently in talks with producers and they are hoping to start [...]

Offsides.

My search for a new coffeetable continues and having clocked in some serious foosball time while in Copenhagen, I can say this table is definitely in my top three favorites. A miniature version in coffeetable form this little fooser (my own word, feel free to use it :P) looks like alot of fun. The glass [...]

Ripple effect.

Pulled this off of TrendInsiders today. This faucet is called The Ripple and it’s  totally interactive. It works by rolling the ball left for hot and right for cold. The lights obviously distinguish between the two with the white light reflecting warm water. I could bore you with how exactly it works but luckily I was able to find a [...]

Design “not quite” Within Reach

I want to start off by saying I love Design Within Reach. But $165 for a felt office desk set? C’mon DWR,  seriously? No really, what else does it comes with? Just the organizer, uh huh I see and you say it’s made of felt? The same felt I made last week when I accidentally tossed [...]

Tea for two, coffee for one?

Another brilliant invention from our friends in Deutschland, the Kaffeepadmaschine, which if you don’t speak German means something like a coffee pod machine. I tried to get more info on this little sucker but the website is in German and those of you who know me know my limitations in that area. I am not certain [...]

Just around the corner.

Having just returned from Berlin I have been lax in posting any German designs and for that I’m sorry. So to make it up to you, I am posting a few clever items I discovered on my recent trip.  First, from German designer Yvonne Schroeder for Details these dextrous corner frames. You wouldn’t want to put a valuable print in [...]

The Tracy tray.

Browsing the link to online store NORMANN Copenhagen that my good friend Camilla sent me, I stumbled across this small serving tray. What’s so special about this little tray you may ask? Not only is it sleek and stylish but it’s also named after me! Ok, ok maybe it wasn’t named after me but having all-American name [...]

Stone cold chillin’.

I can’t help it, I am a kid at heart and when I saw these “rocks” from Smarin designs my first reaction was PILLOW FIGHT!!!!! How awesome are these? The high quality virgin wool used to make the pillows gives them their realistic look and color.  And  I love that they come in a variety of shapes [...]

More than meets the eye.

This piece of furniture has a serious personality complex. I am not really sure what to call it : a sofa, a chaise, a chair? How about we just leave it at multi-functional? Dutch designer Roel Verhagen Kaptein gives you the option to transform it into the perfect piece for you.

Dine and dash.

I work in an office and most days lunch is spent sitting in front of the computer chowing down on my lean cuisine searching the Internet for clever design products. One of my daily missions is finding cutlery in which to eat said lean cuisine with and depending on the reserve collected from various takeout joints [...]

Non-smoking chairs.

Seen on Apartment Therapy this morning, these 60’s inspired chairs by Eve Yun. Remember the nest Big Bird sleeps in on Sesame Street, that’s the feel I get here folks. While I think it’s unusual and hey I love unusual, I cant imagine these would be that comfortable to lounge in. Rattan has never screamed [...]

Just hanging around.

Although wallpaper can seem a bit intimidating to apply yourself, with some simple preparations it takes less time than painting.  And really there’s no need to do the whole room, doing one wall can make an impact. I love these wallpapers by ferm living. “Ferm” is Danish for “clever” and with designs like these I think they’ve [...]

Love is blind.

When you hear window-blinds, the words that instantly pop to mind are boring, white, plastic and institutional.  But the designers at Love is Blind have recreated the iconic window treatment into pleasing graphics that transform your own window sill into a frame. Log onto European online retailer Bodie & Fou and reinvigorate your tired view.

Keep the homefires burning.

It may not feel like winter here in New York City, it’s currently a freakish 64° F (18°C)  but I’m not giving up on the season just yet. Growing up in a ski resort, winter was always the time when our little town started hoppin.  Crisp cool air, crunchy snow underneath my feet and the smell [...]

C’mon baby light my fire.

The search continues for the perfect coffee table. Pulled off of Cool Hunting today, this Fire Table by Dutch designers Huting & de Hoop. The internal lighting emits a warm glow and the candle insert gives the real life feel of a campfire. Smores, anyone?
