Designers often start with a simple sketch when concepting new creations. Swedish design group Front, developed a technique that takes those initial drawings and turns them into actual furniture. Using Motion Capture to record pen strokes made in mid air, the group creates 3D digital files that they then use to render the furniture. The manufacturing process, known as Rapid Prototyping, takes the 3D file and builds the furniture with a liquid plastic material using a laser. The furniture’s unique interweave pattern is the result of the one stroke design used to draw each piece.
