If you’re unfamiliar with Carlo Rossi and his unpretentious wines than you obviously didn’t grow up in America. For over thirty years Carlo Rossi has provided underage teenagers and homeless alike, the means to get completely wasted for under $10. Equally infamous are the jugs Carlo Rossi wines come in.The swollen belly bottle sports a nifty little ring handle, making it easier to hold on to your juice when you’re drinking mobile. But once the fun is done, you’re left with a thumping head and a full recycling bin. So the wine company, realizing its contribution to the landfill was probably rather significant, decided to unleash their own creative juices and design furniture using their bulbous wine jugs. The project known as Jug Simple Furniture, travels around to various art and craft events hoping to inspire consumers and DYI’ers to try their own hand at second generation furniture making. The pieces include the sofa seen here as well as a chandelier, a TV stand, bookshelves and even a sound system. Not bad for a humble little vessel. Think you got what it takes to make your own wino furniture? You go to the website for detailed descriptions on how each is made. One word of caution though, you’ll need quite a few jugs to make some of the pieces, this sofa alone requires 33 bottles. The good news is the wine is inexpensive so you can easily afford to invite a few friends over to help out. The bad news is after drinking all that cheap wine you’re not going feel up to making any furniture.
