Today, September 19,2008 marks the 3rd annual celebration of National Park(ing) Day. The event is based on an idea conceived by REBAR, a San Francisco art collective. Volunteers in more than eighty cities across the U.S. will create more than 450 temporary parks in public parking spaces. The goals of the event is to celebrate parks and promote the need for parks in America’s cities. Happy Park(ing) Day people!

These are a great idea. Definitely should happen more than once a year. And should have the best one stay for the year as a grand prize or something. Can’t wait until I see one in the coming years in my area.
