Walking in our adopted hometown of Brooklyn today, our curiosity was sparked as we passed by this Brooklyn art gallery. We were really glad we took the time to walk inside Shop Art. Once the former home to an invisible dog leash factory, the gallery supports the idea of an affordable art community by giving unknown artists an opportunity to show their work and sell their art. The gallery hopes to make art available to everyone by making it accessible and affordable. Currently housed in the back of the factory is an open flea market/creative space called Invisible Dogs, obviously referencing the buildings former life.
The curators of Shop Art and Invisible Dogs hope to expand the space from gallery and flea market, into a thriving artists community. According to the nice fellow we spoke with, future plans may include artist’s spaces, studio rental and a cafe.
The front of the factory houses the art gallery and the back of the factory is home to an eclectic flea market called Invisible Dogs.
The factory floor is huge and you can still see remnants of the old invisible dog leash factory.
Almost everything you see in the photos is for sale. The items are random, such as: time clocks, old desks and lights.

There was a lot of handmade and vintage jewelry for sale at very affordable prices. The artist pay a fee to distribute their wares.

We found this worn table to have a lot of vintage charm. Surprisingly inexpensive too!
