Lately, we’ve been daydreaming of houseboat living. It’s true! After reading an article in which the author described houseboat living as, the ‘ultimate urban adventure’, we have been dreaming of living at one with sea (or lake). As if the universe heard our yearning, we received a friendly email from David Ballinger, 0f Metro Shed fame, introducing us to his latest venture, Metro Ship.

Metro Ship is a prefab luxury house boat. The design inspiration came from open space NYC loft living. The floor plan includes a large living area, central kitchen, master bedroom and bathroom. The houseboat includes many modern touches, such as: high-end media center (speakers, HD projector), central heating and air conditioning, and high end appliances from Gaggenau, Viking and LG.

Houseboat living is not for those looking to save money. The Metro Ship starts at $239,00. This doesn’t include mooring, which is like paying rent for a slot to put your boat in. Most mooring includes water, sewer, trash and some even have broadband. But mooring spaces can be few and far between, so many places recommend you secure mooring space first before buying a houseboat.

The Metro Ship is stylish and modern. It’s just 48′x12′ but is still bigger than most one bedroom apartments in Manhattan.

Contemporary fixtures give this small bathroom, downtown chic.
