We’ve always had an interest in learning to upholster furniture. We like the idea of ripping a chair apart, tearing it down piece by piece then, tenderly reupholstering it, giving it a whole new look and feel. Just the idea feels us with such a sense of accomplishment! Since we love the unique and colorful, as we’re sure our readers know by now, we couldn’t help but think we may have found a new mentor in Allessandro Mendini for Cappellini.

His multicolored design, the Proust Geometrica chair you see above, is inspiring us to move forward in our quest to learn a new skill. Integrating the fabrics vibrant pattern into the chair’s frame, giving it harlequin flair!

The chair reminds of an Impressionist painting. If Kandinsky designed furniture perhaps it would have looked something like this?

If there is one thing Cappellini wanted to say at the Cologne Furniture fair it’s that…Colour is key!
The Proust Geometrica is due to arrive in the Chaplins Furniture Showroom in the next few weeks. Keep informed at http://www.chaplins.co.uk or 0208 421 1779
I haven’t seen anything quite like this Mendini’s chair.
Some of Conran’s Armchairs looks similar to this.
He also combine classic forms and pop colors.
