Colored Pencil Sculptures

Inspired by animals, plants, Ernst Haeckel, Odilon Redon, and mythology, designer Jennifer Maestre’s sea urchin sculptures look like intricate wood sculptures and in a way, they are. These unique pieces are created using  100′s colored pencils.

To make each pencil sculptures, she takes hundreds of pencils, cuts them to size , drills a hole in each one so she can sew them together.  She takes care to sharpen each pencil before she beads the pencils into shape.

  1. Wow, these colored pencil sculptures are amazing! How creative, I have been looking for a way to recycle the short bits of pencils you can no longer color with.. this would be a great way to do just that.. in a smaller scaled down version since it looks as if you have used full length pencils.
