Inspired by animals, plants, Ernst Haeckel, Odilon Redon, and mythology, designer Jennifer Maestre’s sea urchin sculptures look like intricate wood sculptures and in a way, they are. These unique pieces are created using 100′s colored pencils.
To make each pencil sculptures, she takes hundreds of pencils, cuts them to size , drills a hole in each one so she can sew them together. She takes care to sharpen each pencil before she beads the pencils into shape.
