Giant Folding Table and Chairs.

Robert Therrien leans towards the domestic in his newest exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery 24 Street. His colossal interpretations of everyday items transport us back to childhood when the world really was larger than life. Gargantuan dishes, giant pots and pans and folding furniture that could seat a massive poker game are just part of Robert Therrien’s [...]

Renegade Craft Fair hits Brooklyn this weekend.

Two hundred crafty vendors will be hocking their wares this weekend, June 14th & 15th as The Renegade Craft Fair takes over Brooklyn.  The fair is held 4 times a year in cities across America and is an excellent opportunity for craftsmen and women to introduce their products to the general public. Fair vendor Cherrybox Studios  will [...]

The Grate Divide.

Artist Mona Hatoum revisits her interest in the surreal with her new exhibit, Unhomely at Galerie Max Hetzler in Berlin.  A life sized cheese grater becomes a room divider while a flat grater is transformed into a rather uncomfortable daybed.

Refined Sugar.

I had the pleasure of meeting designer Matt Kotlarczyk from Refined Sugar Studio at ICFF this weekend and couldn’t wait to feature some of his pieces on MUL. Matt takes reclaimed and found objects and gives them a newly refined life. To learn more about Matt and the Refined Sugar Studio’s process click here.

International Contemporary Furniture Fair 2008

Well just  2 more days left of ICFF here in New York but for this writer Sunday marked the end of a fantastic and inspiring furniture fair. The Jacob Javitts Conference Center was packed yesterday as designers from all over the world gathered to see and be seen.

We spotted more than a few design stars [...]

The Blaue Blume Tea Set.

They take tea pretty seriously in England so it’s refreshing to see British designer Tina Tsang  of Undergrowth Design add a bit of fun to the ritual. This milk jar is just one of the pieces in the Blaue Blume tea set she presented at ICFF 2008 this weekend.

ICFF 2008 Update.

Well the International Contemporary Furniture Fair is off to a brilliant start. I’ve seen so many inspiring and innovative designs, I am completely overstimulated! However I hate to neglect my faithful readers even for my own selfish pleasure so please excuse the brevity but I wanted to show you just a few items I really [...]

Bloggers Unite for Human Rights.

I want to take just a moment to tell you that today is the Bloggers Unite for Human Rights event. All over the world bloggers are posting the message that all humans regardless of race, gender, religion, etc… deserve to be treated humanely. I know human rights doesn’t have much to do with home decor [...]

Celebrity Lamp

One of the items I am looking forward to seeing at this year’s ICFF is the Celebrity Lamp from online store Deeply Madly Living. We have happily featured Deeply Madly Living before (you may recall the Erotika Chair) and the Celebrity Lamp certainly falls in line with the other innovative designs they sell.  I love the unique [...]

International Contemporary Furniture Fair May 17-20, 2008

The 20th Annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair comes to New York City this week. It’s an important event for furniture and home product designers but also an exciting time for those of us who have a passion for good design. If you are in the New York area and would like to attend the event [...]

Next stop Sweden.

To promote the opening of a new IKEA in Kobe, Japan the Scandinavian SuperStore decorated an entire subway car inside and out. Crazy! I only wish they would come to New York and redo some of our trains. Check out more photos after the jump…

Architectural Digest Home Design Show

Although the weather was horrible yesterday here in the northeast, the awe-inspiring designs at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show really brightened our mood. We had the opportunity to talk to some very talented designers, enjoyed impressive vignettes featuring furnishings by the chicest design companies and relaxed in the gorgeous show lounge by Ligne Roset.
With [...]

Arctic Pear.

The lighting designs displayed by Ochre were extraordinary to look at. I particularly enjoyed the Artic Pear lamp displayed here. Each delicate little bulb resembles a sweet little pear while the crisp cool light of the piece gives it its chilling effect.

Another contender.

There were many stylish and hip coffee tables at the show but this one by Lorna Lee John Muller Designs really caught our eye. Hundreds of carefully selected wood pieces perfectly placed make this table a contender in our continuing coffee table search. We don’t care if the New York Times has declared the nature-look [...]

The Paris Apartment.

The Paris Apartment, an exhibit by Claudia Strasser was simply gorgeous! Stunning Lucite furniture and the softly muted color scheme felt so dainty and ladylike. Every piece carefully chosen to reflect the Parisian mood by Claudia herself. The display was so beautiful we thought about moving right in!
