Nikon D5000 12.3 MP DX Digital SLR Camera

We went to a Nikon event about a month ago with no interest in buying a camera. We left with a stack of brochures and a desire to take better photos. When, our crappy Casio petered out last week on a hike in the Catskill Mountains, and we were left with only our iPhone to capture our precious moments, we vowed somehow, someway we’d get this camera!  . :<  It is relatively simple to use  but has some highly-advanced DSLR capabilities. The Nikon D5000 is a good camera for someone who needs to take better photos but is still learning the intricacies of photography.

The name of this piece-’Oh, the Farmer and the Cowman Should be Friends’. A one off piece designed for Timothy Taylor Gallery in London by designer Ron Arad. The United States make an excellent storage space for your favorite tomes. Wouldn’t it be fun to give each state a theme? For instance: western novels in Arizona, beach reads in Florida, Oprah’s book club in Illinois.

Missing from this installation- Alaska and Hawaii. They are still part of the United States aren’t they? We can understand why he might boot Alaska out of the picture (Sarah Palin, bleh!) but Hawaii is the birth place of our current President! Missing states aside, it’s still a very impressive and fun design.

The owners of this old wood house wanted to renovate their residence to incorporate both living and work spaces. They called on Japanese design group, Nendo to create a new layout for their home that would build on earlier features from a prior renovation, as well as enrich the owner’s new lifestyle .

The house, located on the Shibuya River in Tokyo’s Ebisu neighborhood, had some earlier renovations that made design job a little challenging but as you can see, once completed, the house has transformed an oddly long hallway and a tiny room into work and living areas that provided the perfect foundation for the beautiful moss wall designs.

Nendo took inspiration from the homes exterior landscape. The moss designs inside mimic Mother Nature’s original design outside.

Veins of moss pattern the riverbank outside the windows, so we used similar veins of dry moss on the interior walls to subtly connect existing spaces with newly-renovated ones, and the house’s interior environment to its exterior one.

Wandering the streets of NYC yesterday (sunny and fabulous) we walked by a lot of going out of business sales.  Grabbed a groovy little satin crop jacket for $15 outside of American Apparel on the LES. and we picked up a “Fired Up” campfire candle (distributed by Fred) pretty cheap at East Village store TINY. The store has unfortunately become another victim of the economic squeeze. Too bad, we liked Tiny. They sold mostly household items downsized for small apartment living. Some of the stuff wasvery  useful and what wasn’t was entertaining to look at. Bye Tiny~!
